York-Adams League coaches select 2023-24 girls' basketball all-stars
The York-Adams League has announced its girls' basketball all-stars for the 2023-24 season.
League coaches selected first and second teams in all three divisions, as well as Players and Coaches of the Year. The region's wealth of returning talent was on display, as two standouts repeated as Players of the Year in their respective divisions and a slew of veterans returned to at least their second straight all-star first team.

Central York's Alivia McCaskell was named the Division I Player of the Year after helping lead the new-look Panthers to a 17-5 regular season. The sophomore, who was the lone returning starter from Central's 2023 team that made the district title game and state quarterfinals, averaged 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.9 steals this winter. After she suffered a season-ending knee injury against York High on Jan. 29, the Panthers suffered first-round exits in the league and district playoffs to finish 17-7.
South Western's Kevin Klunk claimed top coaching honors in Division I after leading the Mustangs from last place a year ago to the league semifinals this season. With a young group full of multi-sport athletes, South Western improved from 7-15 (0-12 D-I) to 17-5 (9-3) in the regular season. After falling two points shy of reaching the league final, the Mustangs hosted their first district playoff game since 2019 but suffered a narrow loss to Ephrata and closed their season 18-7.
Eastern York's Arianna Seitz was the league's leading scorer for the second straight year, and she's now a back-to-back Division II Player of the Year. The senior has averaged 20.1 points through the District 3 Class 4A tournament, narrowly ahead of West York senior Faith Walker (18.4 points per game) for the division and league lead. Seitz was a scoring machine all season for a young Golden Knights squad that went 12-10 in the regular season and secured a state playoff appearance with Monday's dramatic win at Trinity. The NCAA Division II Clarion signee scored her 1,000th career point in December.
Jess Weaver, who will coach York Suburban's girls in their second straight District 3 Class 5A title game on Friday, was named D-II Coach of the Year. The Trojans vaulted from third to first in the division, finished 21-1 in the regular season and took silver at the league tournament after dropping the final against Dallastown. Weaver often points to last year's postseason, when Suburban made the district final as a No. 6 seed, as the spark that took this program to the next level.
Division III had a pair of repeat award winners, as Delone Catholic's Megan Jacoby was named Player of the Year and York Catholic's Kevin Bankos claimed top coaching honors once again. Jacoby, a junior, is averaging 11.1 points per game to lead a balanced Squirettes offense. She's been the centerpiece of a team that entered Thursday's District 3 Class 4A title game 21-2 this season, with its only losses coming to national powerhouse Westtown Prep and against Northeastern at the buzzer in the league tournament.
Bankos continued to lead York Catholic to success in his 18th season at the helm. The Fighting Irish are 18-8 and will compete in the PIAA Class 3A playoffs after placing third in the district tournament. Bankos earned his 400th career victory in January.
