Edward C. Dircks, 89, died on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Shrewsbury. He was the husband of Patricia E. (Myers) Dircks. The couple wed on November 2, 1957.

A funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom with the Reverend Mark T. Wilke officiating. Viewings will be on Monday, May 6 from 4:30-8 p.m. at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion and on Wednesday from 11-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Born on January 2, 1935 in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Walter and Anna C. (Dietz) Dircks. Edward was a foreman at Bethlehem Steel until retiring in 1986.

Mr. Dircks served our country for two years in the United States Army. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in New Freedom. Edward enjoyed riding his John Deere mower and watching the Baltimore Orioles. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Patricia, Edward is survived by his children, Carmen L. Lighty and her husband, Mark G. of Cross Roads, Edward F. Dircks and his wife, Cira M. of Cross Roads, Gregory S. Dircks and his wife, Lisa A. of Cross Roads, Warren T. Dircks and his wife, Cathy of Glen Rock and Deanna L. Place; 11 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan N. Dircks; grandson, Joel T. Dircks; two great granddaughters, Sommer Dircks and Hope Muilwyck; and three brothers, Walter H. Dircks, Lingard O. Dircks and Howard A. Dircks.
